Procrastination Challenge

This is my first time to join in the Procrastination Challenge by Debbie of Virtually Organized.

Last weekend I was able to finish my wardrobe.. Its Spring Time here in Australia and the best time to pack away those bulky Winter jackets and clothes that has been choking my entire wardrobe...

Actually I want to focus your attention on my  Shoes...well if you can see it!!! it was hidden under the rubble ...... ha ha ha...

BEFORE ORGANIZING

Some of them are in their shoe boxes and some are juts hanging around there...

Ages ago I bought these Shoe storage Boxes 5 pieces in one pack LARGE (for Hubby's shoes and my boots) and SMALL for my shoes..  I bought around 4 packs of Large and 4 packs of small ,, I did some of it but never finished it,, I've got these from ALDI ,, I cant remember how much it was ,, its been  a long time now...

So one wekend I just tackled this projecgt that I have been procrastinating  on..

What I love about these shoe boxes are they are clear rigid Boxes and it comes with a Silica gel to aborbs the moist.. I like placing my shoes in a clear shoe boxes so I can see whats inside them,,, it protects from dust and moist ;it also looks good organized like this...They are mostly shoes that I wore for speacial occassion , some of my big boots are on top in their original boxes but with a picture of what the boots look like... while my everday shoes are in my closet downstairs.

AFTER ORGANIZING
Next time I'll post the entire make over of my wardrobe... watch out for it...

A letter to Santa

My hubby went to the site of Australia Post office to get Santa Claus' address . We've done it last year and now we are doing it again...
Joe went online  with the kids on his lap and showed them the site .. The kids were excited and told me that they are writing their Christmas wish to Santa.. Hubby downloaded a Santa Mail Letterhead and made a letter for them and  the kids wrote their names.. So tomorrow I will post the letter to SANTA!!!!  This is also free and for sure before Christmas we will receive a SPECIAL LETTER FROM SANTA!!!!

Crisis

This morning's news is not a good one for our retirees. The Superannuation funds have suffered their fourth consecutive quarter of negative returns and their worst performance since the introduction of compulsory super in July 1992.
Members are flocking to seminars being run by funds in an effort to understand the potential effect these markets may have on their superannuation.
Imagine those senior citizens who  worked hard so that when they retire can just enjoy and reaps the benefit of their labors . Most of them are also finding a good place to settle in and looking for a good retirement homes. There are plenty of options to choose from and heaps of retirement houses to choose from,, and there is a retirement community site to help them find a better place... But since they are relying  on their Super Funds ;Senior Citizens are getting anxious with how the market is going on..and they are very  wary about things to come... Its just ridiculous at the moment....  I m joust hoping that everything will be settled because everyone is suffering...

My husband as a typical Aussie Bloke and the most outspoken, uncensored guy I've ever met; likes to stir my little Bianca with words,, he try to say words and talk to Bianca sometimes just for fun,, and one thing you know it,, my little girl would utter some words... that makes me cringe!!! yeah,, I blame it on JOE!!!!! I always tell him not in front of my little girl... she is such a Parrot!!!! not only that ,, she loves to tell stories to her teachers!!!!!! there is no secrets in our lives!!!!!

She also act like a Big Sister to Braiden and boss him around... I can even hear her say phrases that I usually say ..

But one thing for sure there are words I want to hear from her...
I LOVE YOU !!!! as I tuck her to bed.... Music to my ears!!!!
I LOVE YOU TOO!!!! I answer,, kissing her.. Now go to sleep...

Cold BUG!!!!

Its SPRING time ,, but when I just cleaned up my wardrobe and my kids closets ; put away all the bulky winter gears then we experienced one of the coldest October day in Sydney!!!!!! good thing I left some long sleeves shirts and jackets in the kids wardrobe,,, just in case.....
And after the two days of  chill,,, now its 29 C  and we're wearing singlets and short!!!! Wheww.. cant win!!!
I've noticed that the kids are having a runny nose after that cold snap,.. and my boy had 39.4C temperature last night!!!!!! now he is perfectly fine....

We already past the WINTER blues... and as I recall,,, my kids were always sick and with runny noses and cough ,, they go to preschool and the cold viruses there are everywhere....

Why WINTER????
*They say that everyone has a lowered immune system in winter, and our metabolism is also slower, so things don't move through us as well. There are still viruses around in summer, but they tend to move them through your system  a lot quicker..
*Spending more time indoors breathing recirculated air also enables bug to spread more easily..

Did you know ??
*Most children will get better without medical treatment within 5-7 days
*Coughing is usually helpful because it removes secretions from the lungs and prevents further illness.
*Colds are caused by viruses and the antibiotics ahve no efefct on them.
*Colds are more common in large families
*There are literally hundreds of different cold viruses.

Preventive measures :
Prevention is always better than cure and a number ways to ward off catching a cold.

*Balanced diet
*Iron is crucial , Vitamin C is also needed to absorb iron, ensure children gets plenty of fruits and veggies.
*Never under estimate the importance of good hygiene in the prevention of illness,
*Washing hands more often and wiping surfaces , door handles , tables and arm rest with an alcohol based wipes are good ideas.

SAHM-one speaks

This is my First time to join in WhenSAHMone speaks by Mitch...

Thanks for inviting me MITCH....

Here is the question....
Were you taught and trained to do the household chores at a very young age? If yes, would you implement the same to your children?

My answer is a big YES... I remember the days that I have to do  our laundry...
OH my... HAND WASHING during those old days and I was around 9 years old.. I have to wash it...with those tiny hands ... place it under the sun so that the stain will be removed... then rinse it and hang it... wheeww.. being young ; that was a big task for me... and I have an Auntie on my side supervising  and nagging me...

I also have to wash the dishes and do some more household chores... I've got 2 older sisters and 2 older brothers,,,, and my Mom trained us all,, even during the later years when we had a Household helper we, still do our work... we cant just sit around and do nothing or else my mom would be cranky....

Now that I have children I have to implement some rules too....I've got a 14 year old girl ....
I am always on my teenage girl's back... telling her to clean her room.....
Gezzz,, sometimes I say to myself I do sound like my mother...

My daughter sets up the table for dinner,, clean up the after dinner,, load the dishwasher.. throw the rubbish out and sweep the floor.. I always tell her "I cook then you clean up!" ..

Saturdays.... she do her own laundry now....... even her school uniform....

She irons her own school uniform...

She cleans her own toilet

Although she whinges everytime I tell her to the stuff,, she knows that she has to do it anyway......

It might not be accordingto my stantards but at least she's doing it... then its my turn to whinge....!!

Her room just makes me NUTS!!!!!

Its just a TYPICAL Teen age room ... she cleans up ,, but after few hours.... MESS again!!!!
And my younger kids .. I also tell them to tidy up their toys... My boy is a bit stubborn but Bianca who is 3 is more responsible... She looks after her own stuff and knows how to tidy up,,, hope she stays the same when she grows up....

Every breath you take.....

Asthma is not only one of the most terrifying afflictions a child can have ; its also one of the most common. It strikes when the airways in the lungs become irritated. The throat passage  narrows, becoming red and inflamed, it produces extra mucus  and gets clogged. Breathing is hard..

A year ago we had a scare of our life when our boy exhibited some symptoms of asthma attack,, he was wheezing and breathing heavily.. We knew that something wasn't right,, he was not his usual self and he was just too tired to do things.. My quick thinking husband decided to rush him in the hospital , and true enough , our boy was having an asthma attack.. s far as we know we don't have a family history of asthma on both sides of the family ; but we knew that he has eczema ( a form of dermatitis) since he was still a baby and its prevalent during Winter time. and we found out that he is allergic to CATS...  and they said that it can be a trigger for Asthma ..  So my poor boy who stayed overnight in the hospital has to be monitored till his breathing becomes normal and he was prescribed to use the Oral Inhalers..
And luckily enough he he's doing well ,, and hopefully no more asthma attacks ...

Recent research shows that dust mite  are a common trigger for asthma . I 've seen a TV series about prevention of asthma attack by avoiding  dust mites at home...
They also say that there is a link between Stress and Asthma ..
In younger child, common triggers would be viral infections, coughs, house dust, mites, mould, pets ,, pollens, passive smoking - even exercise. If children are getting persistent coughs and episode of chest infections , these are warning signs and means its well worth a visit to your Doctor..
While the cure depends on finding  the causes of the disease , its reassuring that symptoms can be tamed...

Some FACTS about ASTHMA in children  by Asthma Foundation Australia
* For children , asthma is the most common cause of admission to hospital for treatment
* Asthma commonly develops between the ages of two and seven
* 50% of children who develop asthma will no longer have symptoms by their late teens
* 25% of children in Australia and New Zealand have Asthma
* Asthma cannot be cured, but it can be controlled
* Talk to your doctor if your child has wheezing that happens more than once, constant or intermittent bouts of coughing thats get worse at night or other breathing problems that are concern to you.
* 60% of parents don't have an Asthma Action Plan
* All parents with asthmatic children should ask their family doctor for a written Asthma Action plan, this will help you recognize worsening symptoms , Start treatment quickly and seek the right medical assistance.

Oral Health

The Declining dental heath of Australian children is enough to leave a bad taste in your mouth .. It is on the rise..
47.7 percent of six year old had a history of decay in their baby teeth..
However experts ay that tooth decay is preventable. They say getting parents to brush up on their oral care skills and helping them identify tha main causes of cavities is all that is needed to turn the statistics around...
The main risk of tooth decay are:

A high sugar diet, with lots of snacks
Putting a baby to sleep with a bottle of milk, juice
Bad oral habit ( Not cleaning teeth or visiting the dentist)
Poor intake of fluoridated tap water Here in Oz the tap water has flourid
e..

To prevent caries it is recommended to switch children's bottles to cup at around 9-12 months and give kids a variety of nutritious foods..

As soon as teeth appear, start brushing twice a day using a baby toothbrush..

Use low fluoride toothpaste from about 18 months but only a small amount,, do not use full strength  til the age of 6

Brush every surface of every tooth.. Gently in small circles for the front. brush along the gum line of each tooth and brush the tongue to help remove decay causing bacteria..

Start gently flossing child teeth by age 2 1/2 at least twice a week..
Ideal brushing time is 2 minutes.

You dont want to end up like this!!!!!! EWWWWWWWW!!! ha ha ha

I've still got a Layby or lay away stuff from Big W shop ,, that is a 6 month lay by ,, I might pay for it in full and take it out so I can wrap them..
I love giving gifts and I love wrapping them... Its just a nice feeling to give someone..
Christmas decor and ornaments are already in display so the Christmas mood is already starting to linger with me..
I might not put all my Christmas decor out because we are going for a holiday after Christmas day we'll be away for 2 weeks so to save me from cleaning up big time afterwards I will just set up a Christmas tree ,, but not now,,, I'll do it early November..

Organizing my Office

I am so excited because this is my first entry for Org Junkie's Monthly Organizing Round Up    Few weeks ago I stumbled into Laura's site and went through to all her past articles.. since then I was hooked into it.. I've learned so much from her and she had me given me so much inspiration to organize...
This months theme is OFFICE  and I'm very excited because I love my office and I spent most of my time in the office aside from my kitchen... (which I did some organizing too..)

I started with buying or gathering the materials or containers that I needed

This was my desk BEFORE:
I've got heaps of desk space but the papers are scattered all over.. My daughter's got her Ibook next to mine so she shares the space and the clutter with me....
This is the AFTER pic... I have the document trays,,
I found a desk sorter in my cupboard ,, very handy so everytime I've got mail and papers,, I open it straight away ,,put  the paper that are not important in the bin and as you can see I have a designated folders for Home bills, To Read and Needs attention...  On my Tray Ive got the Business bills to be paid  and To File which is getting full now,, I put away the file once a month, I guess I don't file straight away which I should do,, But I like to file when I'm just at home by myself when kids are in school ,, put a Movie in my Mac and watch and file!!!  That's my idea of filing..
As you can see under my pen holder is a coaster , very handy  when I bring a cup of coffee when I'm working .. I've also got a Big crystal paper weight which I found interesting...

I love this funky notebook which is coordinated with my mouse pad.. My notebook which I jot down some stuff... and my receipt organizer which I put my receipts after shopping,, or from the services I've gone.. from School or receipts from my hobby...
This is the BEFORE of my piled up magazines under my table...
This is the AFTER I bought a 4 tier shelf unit.. On top is where I put some books, or magazines
second level the black box is so special because it holds our  love letters, cards to each other; some pics and special memories. I called my hubby in the office and showed him the letters the other day,, and we were having a good laugh about it,, finidng how madly in love we are .. we still are but in such a different level being married and  with the kids..
The Blue containers holds my digi cam and my daughters cam , USB
The black bag holds my laptop
The boxes are for my CD and I ve got the magazine holder on the right... the bin is on the far right (Not pictured)

Here is the BEFORE of my side table which is cluttered with magazines..
This is the AFTER I bought a 4 drawer storage   labeled My charger/cables; my office supplies; Tape / label er ; paper and stationery. Then I ve got the magazines holder and placed it there..
Then I canceled my Magazine subscription of Better Homes and garden because they also have a show on TV and its the same article in the magazines,,, Since Ive got Foxtel I just record the episode and watch it when I can; then delete the show afterwards...
I've bought this nice baskets with handle and placed a tag where I placed my CD DVD and batteries....

This is BEFORE of my Filing Cupboard.. Just full of stuff  since I've got the extra drawer already I was able to lessen the stuff inside..
The black folders are for My home bills  and the Red are for the business file..

AFTER ...As you can see on top of the drawer 2 organizer black and blue,, that is where I put all our personal papers like birth certificate, marriage cert and so on,, so Juts in case of emergency I can just grab it and run....
This is my BEFORE of my drawer where I put my Fax machine underneath is some over flowing  pens, papers and some stuff..

AFTER so I put some small containers and then labeled my Ruler . scissors with "Office Use only" because my daughter's got a habit of taking my supplies and not putting it back..
Then the lower drawer I put some files for my kids, school, speech therapy , My daughters file for school and some misc files.. Very useful for me...
And Ive also got a nice faux Leopard chair in the corner ; which I bought from Target where visitors can sit very welcoming...
And this is my Home Office!!!!   I love having  family pics all over .. On the door I've got a mood frame. where I have pictures of our last vacation and the beautiful place we've been reminding me how we had such a good time and wishing to go back to that place again.... I've also got a black basket pictured next to the chair where my teenage daughter place her notes and stuff when working in the desk,, so they're not scattered all over and when she's finished she can take it with her in her room.. Now I'm very particular with the mess in my office,, and before I leave I make sure to tidy up and its  easy because I have  more drawers and things are labeled so its functional...
Thank you Laura for the inspiration and resources...
