Micah's Birthday

It was Micah's 14th Birthday yesterday, i bought her a chocolate cake and no big celebrations ,, since she just wanted to have some friends over for a sleepover on Saturday..
When she came back after school she was so excited because she received a gift from her friends.. a White GHD hair straightener, she always wanted to have that and she was so fortunate to have good friends because it is an expensive GHD it cost around $330 for that... What a lucky girl!!!

We also played a joke on her.. I posted a story about how we got Micah's mobile phone back after she lost it for 6 weeks... read here.. Honesty.  So she didn't know that we've retrieved her lost phone, I placed it inside Joe's mobile phone box which is NOKIA N95 . she was nagging me to get her a new phone... so when she unwrap the gift she saw the box and she was so surprised!!! ha ha ha,, the look on her face was unforgettable, she thought shes having a new phone,, but inside it was her Pink Motorola Razr V3.... ha ha ha we have to teach her a lesson .. so she will look after her stuff..

She did well,, we gave her; her real gift which is Philips Ipod Dock with alarm clock.. and she loved it!!! plus her favorite books Twilight and Eclipse and a voucher for a new book Breaking dawn (to be released on Aug 4)by Stephanie Myer.

Please check my other site The way of Life in Oz to see more of her pictures...

6 weeks ago before school holiday, my daughter lost her mobile phone.. I was really cranky at her because she wasn't looking after her stuff..  So we thought that it was stolen or be forever gone..
But we had a call from a mom who said that her daughter found Micah's mobile in a bus stop; (Micah takes a bus going to school ); so she charged it and went thru her contacts and found my hubby's number. We are very pleased to know that there are still people who are honest.. So we took down her address and the other day I went to her place,it was just around the corner where we live. The hubby was home and contacted the wife who was at work at that time and she said she will just drop the phone in my place.. It was so kind of her to do that.. So I just bought a simple stuff for the girl who found Micah's phone..  Nice to know that there are still people who are honest and kind...  Are there any incident happened to you that you are wanted to share??? I've got one more story about a kind man who helped my Hubby ..check it out on my other blog The Way of Life in Oz .  We are very fortunate to encounter these kind of people....

The circus came to town!!

Yes.. the Circus came to Town!!!! and we did not miss it!!!
So when Joe heard about the circus he rushed and bought a family ticket.
Actually it was our first time to watch a circus as a family and we were not disappointed..
It was really entertaining,, although there where no lions and elephants ; just ponies and puppies; because some animal rights activist are against using wild animals in a circus.. But it was till good..
Braiden was giggling so much ,, because of the clown!!! he was having a belly laugh!!  It was another fun weekend for us and for sure ; when another circus come to town.. we'll surely gonna be there!!!
I wasn't able to take a photo inside because; taking pics of the performance is not allowed..

It's convenient to have a Steel Building

I’ve been busy lately cleaning up the house… I started tidying up the kids bedroom,,, and sorting their clothes that either too small for them or that needs to be repaired.. It was overwhelming to see the things they have,, so all the stuff or toys that they’ve already outgrown; I placed them in a big container and some of them in a plastic bag.. I have to keep them first before I start putting them in a box to be sent to the Philippines. So I dragged the container down and placed them in our storage shed; good thing we’ve got the storage to place all our stuff. It is very convenient for us to have the shed because that is where I keep my 20 boxes of Christmas decors!!! Yes 20 boxes aside from lawnmower our garden tools and other knick knacks….
It is made of steel; very stable and durable.. Here in Australia the storage shed is a must for every household.. You can have big ones or small one depending on you preferences.. Good thing is when we purchased our house there is already a decent size shed constructed. So It was a good factor why we like the house because of having a good storage.  And most of the new houses that they're building here in our suburb you can see steel buildings and garage buildings  being built ; people are aware on the benefits of having it constructed.

Toy SALE..

Went to Target shops today,, It's the 1st day of their TOY SALE...  I've got some few stuff to get for the kids,, so after dropping the kids off to preschool and went straight to the shops..
It was around 10:30 when I arrived there; I just said under my breath, Oh my........ the place was packed with toy maniac moms......... The store is packed with toys,, literally ,, on top of each other..  As I push myself inside.. I started to have a headache straight away... so I just picked up toys that fancy my eyes... when I got all the stuff that I like I went in a corner and examined the toys,, I was asking myself; do I really need to purchase some of the toys because some of them will just be a clutter at home... so I put down some toys that my kids would be bored of straight away..
With all the hype that was happening inside the store,, moms haggling and pushing to get toys,, the feeling is contagious!!!
well,, I went pass a long queue of people going to the lay-by section.. hummmm,, I cant stay that long. It's so pathetic... But there I was on a queue just to get the Playstation2 games and Nintendo DS games.. Sucked In...... and guess what?  it took me 1 1/2 freaking hours !!! I was just about to have a tantrums and throw the empty case around,, but hey; I wasn't the only one complaining, so I have to stand there and just exchange a pleasant conversation with a lady in front of me...
Good thing I'm not rushing back home because I can pick the kids from preschool late ... when I'm done; went to get a late lunch and headed back home and started dumping the stuff in my garage... and LOCKED it!!!!! just in case my kids decided to enter the forbidden garage and discover toys that are intended for Christmas...

Taking off the training wheels

Braiden is growing fast and doing things that amazes Joe and I.. Last time when we went to the snow , he learned to ski straight away..
We always say that he has a good coordination and balance, that is why we are thinking of taking off his training wheels on his bicycle this coming Summer time,, Since its still winter here in Australia, we don't go out to the park often to ride his bike, but definitely we are going to teach him ride his bike by himself.. We also need to get him a new one,, he's got a 14' bike and since his legs are growing longer he needs to have a bigger one..
We are tossing between a Raleigh bicycle or the Apollo bicycle, we need to find a bike with a good suspension and ; easy to handle and lightweight. we've got 2 Shimano mountain bicycles at home that Joe and I are using and we find it comfortable and easy. so now we can tag along the kids with us riding around the park here in our place,, Can't wait for Summer time..

Need help with your Bad Credit?

We worry about the high inflation rate.. With everything is increasing it's prices,, I can imagine how hard it is for some people to manage their everyday expenses and to pay off their mortgage.
We are very careful about our expenses and we always keep track of our finances,,
But what about those who have Bad Credit Report? I guess there is always a solution to that. There are companies who offer creditors to Repair Credit. It is a good idea for people who needs have a clean credit history. Some would like to get a lower interest rate, a new home loan , to get a new car. Don't we all want a good report so that we can get a loan..
Don't fret because someone out there will offer you Credit Repair Services..  So you can have a peace of mind and be stress free..

Get an Insurance Quotes

With a high interest rate looming, increase petrol prices and elevated consumer prices,, It is advisable to be practical in life,, and to look for a better deal and better services for your money..
We own 2 cars and 1 truck which my husband use for our business. End of financial year is a time for renewing car insurance,, it is such a headache for us because we have  3 vehicles to insure.. What my hubby did was to look around for a better Insurance company.. Although we have our recent Insurance Company; we still looked online or phone around to find the best Insurance Quotes ; it was free to get quotes and they are very quick to respond to your inquiries .. It is very important to look around and get quotes and compare what's the best deal they can offer you... We did find a new company and we saved heaps .

Bedroom Furniture

Hayyy SLEEP.. we all need a good sleep to function well...

That is what I've been missing.. A good night sleep...
My son would always go to our bed around 12:30 am onwards..
Well ,, we actually don't mind it,, but sometimes he would occupy most of the space, and there I am lying on my side .. on the edge of he bed.. My hubby and I always say that when we moved to a new place we have to change our bed into a King Size bed,, so of course we have to look for an elegant Bedroom Furniture.
There are plenty of style to choose from ,, don't know yet if we are going for a Modern Bedroom Furniture   or the Contemporary Bedroom Furniture.. That is why , whenever there is site that offers a good deal about Bedroom Furniture I browse through their collection and get some ideas on how I want my next bedroom to look like.

Toy Sale Madness

Hayyy.. TOYS TOYS and lots of TOYS....
I admit that I am a Toy sale aficionado..  Can't help it....!!
My kids are so spoilt that it seems that every week it Christmas for them..  Well. I'm trying to figure it out why,, maybe in subliminal mind I am trying to compensate for the things that I've never had before.. When I was young we only play with clay pots and pans "palayok" and paper dolls.. My sister JenL and I used to gather leaves and do some cooking.. We used to play with matchbox  and turn them into sofa or beds for our homemade paper dolls and those were our entertainment. I've only got one Doll that I've got for Christmas. here I am now enjoying looking at the toys. I'm guilty of buying toys too much... But who can blame me,, it's the way they promote toys here in Oz..  Toy sale galore.... half price...!!

2 major outlet had their toy sale already this past 2 weeks and next week it will be TARGET Biggest Toy sale ever!!! as they promoted they have more than 300 new toys, over 150 1/2 price toy offers.  over $150M worth of toys, 300 exclusive offers.. So for sure there will be a long line of people waiting for the store to open.

They offer a layby till Christmas ,, so you can get the items and just pay for it till Christmas while they keep them in a storage first.. So that's how they get people to buy loads of toys,,it a marketing tactic; some people would have 3-6 trolleys of toys!!! well,, I'm not that bad anyway..

I also buy toys for my niece and nephew in the Philippines, and send it to them before Christmas...I usually send all the toys that my kids have outgrown to the Philippines, they are still in good condition and they can still get a lot of fun playing with it just like my kids ...

For sure I'm not the only mom around here who likes to buy toys for their kids..
Hey..But don't get  me wrong,, I don't just splurge ,, I wait for a Toy sale so I can get a good bargain...  Don't we all love a good bargain???
Please feel free to share your thoughts about it...

It's more than year now that Joe and I decided to set up a Saltwater Aquarium. After traveling from Hamilton Island we just feel in love with the various saltwater fish and marine life.

We have live rocks, anemones, corals, starfish and different types of fish , but our pet is the Zebra Eel, named Marty. Heis about 1 meter long now and he is just a passive , docile eel that comes out of the rocks during night time.

Setting up a saltwater aquarium is not an easy job. It entails a lot of patience and it has to be looked after really well. It is also costly and needs a constant maintenance.
We make sure that the water is the right temperature so we always have to check the thermometer, heater and the light. We are always cautious on checking the filter and if the protein skimmer are in good working condition. These keep the tank clean. Monitoring the Ph level is done by using the Test kit.
It is a hard work but we are happy to see our fish thriving and healthy. Its just a good feeling when we see our fish happily swimming around; it makes us feel relax..

Car Seats

I am aware of how important it is to use  car seats for my children. Since birth I started using an Infant car seat carrier for my kids and now they are using car seats according to their age and weight.

Traveling with children, especially young children, puts special demands on the adults responsible for their well being. Here are some tips that can make the trip pleasant for all concerned.

1. Restraints are important
Always use restraints when you drive with children. Children can be particularly
vulnerable in a car, even when they are sitting in the back seat. When driving with
children, ensure that they are always correctly restrained, even when you drive slowly

2.  Drive carefully

3.  Take just a short trip.
4.  You must wear a seat belt even when you are pregnant.

5.  Children require the appropriate restraint for their size:
     infant restraints (for babies)
6.  Child seats (for very young children)

7.  Booster seats and harnesses (for young children)

8.  seat belts (for older children).

9.  Always take the time to get your child comfortably and correctly strapped in.

Each child restraint must be correctly installed.
Each child restraint must suit your child’s weight and size. Children grow at
different rates, so your child’s weight and size are much more important than
your child’s age.

Avoid early promotion: do not move your child from one type of restraint to
the next before they have reached the top of the weight or height range of the
restraint. Children should continue to use a suitable child restraint for as long
as they fit.

Where possible, always place children in the back seat of your car. The
back seat is much safer than the front seat.
Never use an infant restraint in the front-passenger seat if your car has
a front-passenger airbag.

Do not use a restraint if it is more than 10 years old, is damaged or
has been in a crash, even if it does not appear to be damaged.
Child restraints should never be used in vehicle seats that face
rearward or sideways.

Home Improvement

Home renovation is what I am planning to do for the next 6 months,, just want to freshen up the look of my home. So I am looking at some magazines and searching on Internet for a classy style. One thing on my list is to update my Pillar.. I've got a pillar before entering my living room . 2 years ago I sponge paint it with green, but my hubby wasn't keen about it. he doesn't like the look its just sticking out there.. but we left it there for a while,, but he still kept on saying that we need to find someone that can do it professionally ; he likes to have it painted like a Carrara marble look. Humm,  we really need a professional to do it,, so I was looking at the site of Atlanta Faux Furnishing and checking out their gallery and their services, they've got talented people to help you bring your vision to reality. And I envision a beautiful pillar  for my  home.... So check it out and see how they turn ordinary room/wall to classy..
Just look at this room... haaay it is to die for.. very nice...

Find a bargain

I love good deals.. Especially during this hard times; you need to be practical and logical with your purchases...

Christmas in July

Merry Christmas in July!!!!
Yes here in Australia we have a Christmas in July....!!
My children from preschool celebrated the event by having a christmas concert last week, singing Christmas carol and complete with christmas decor.
even when you go the shops you can see christmas decor announcing the event.
Hummmm.. but I never put decor at home during this time...
Can't blame them ,, when we were at the snow last week , it's a good feeling experiencing a snow falling on our faces,, I said it just like a Winter wonderland ..... Merry Christmas ho ho ho.. while my kids singing Jingle bells ....

According to Wikipedia
Midwinter 'Christmas' or Yulefest is an unofficial Midwinter/Yuletide related celebration followed by mainly English/European families in Australia and New Zealand during the wintertime (which on the Southern Hemisphere falls into the June-July-August period). There is no official holiday and the date of observance varies from place to place and even family to family, though it is often around the time of the shortest day or winter solstice, which, in the southern hemisphere, is on the 21 June.
The Christmas in July celebration probably started in Australia in July, 1980 when a group of Irish tourists convinced the proprietor of a hotel in the Blue Mountains in New South Wales to hold a party called "Yulefest". In Australia, Christmas in July is especially common as a marketing gimmick in the snowfields where the month of July coincides with the high season in the Australian skiing resorts, but Christmas in July as a marketing gimmick can also be found elsewhere in Australia.

Kids luggage

We've got a visitor fr 2 weeks.
It's my husband's 9 year old niece from Townsville is  staying here with her dad for 2 weeks, because its school holidays here in Australia. I always take Swana for shopping and buy her clothes and personal stuff since we only see her once a year , we make it a point to  spoil her a little bit. But the problem is when she came here she only bought a small bag with her and she needs a luggage to put all her newly bought clothes and shoes. That is why this morning we were looking for a kids luggage at the shops. But we did not see one that she likes. She said she wants a disney luggage, so we are going to a big mall tomorrow to look for it. I wanted to make sure to get her a luggage that will be durable enough so that she will have a good use of it. Its important to be secured and spacious . We were looking at this style its Bambi dot , not too babyish but stylish for a 9 year old girl...

My Tip for a long car travel

My children love to watch movies.. Every week if there is a sale on DVD I make it point to buy them movies that they like.. especially when I;m busy doing something Braiden can operate the DVD player and he is occupied with the movie..
That is why when my hubby bought his new car he also bought a ceiling mount DVD player,,and have it installed; we've got 3 wireless headphone one for each child.. Its so good because whenever we go on a long travels , we often turn it on for them. You won't hear them say "Are we there yet?" because they are busy watching. It's tried and tested because last December we went on a 12 hour car trip to Queensland  and that made our trip stress free for all of us..
We also have a portable DVD player and that is what the kids use when they travel in my car.. Aside from having that in your car you can also take it with you whenever you go out for dinner or lunch . While waiting for the service and food , kids can enjoy it. You can eat your meal in peace and enjoy chatting with your friends without being interrupted with bored kids.. Its better to have it , than see your kids roam around the restaurant  just annoying everyone..
It works for us and very convenient to take along, we even take ours even when we travel by plane.
Such a good invention!!!!
So the best tip is invest on a  good car DVD Player

It's all Fun and Games

Parents today are inundated with all the hype of marketing to persuade them to purchase educational gizmo and gadgets , from electronic cards to latest computer games. Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it???
PLAY is a very serious business for my kids, its one of the best way to learn about their world, about themselves and people around them. Playing is not just a past time but is is vital for the child's learning and development.
These are the types of play
QUIET PLAY Pictures books, bead stringing, peg boards, puzzles, doll play and drawing
CREATIVE PLAY Painting, drawing, problem solving, music , dancing, sand collage and use of imagination
ACTIVE PLAY Ball, slides, swings, push and pull toys, sand and water play, trikes and bikes, running, climbing trees , dress up clothes , cars and trucks.
COOPERATIVE PLAY Ball games, tag, see saw, playing dolls or house, block building, hide and seek
DRAMATIC PLAY trying out different kinds of life roles, occupations and activities
MANIPULATIVE PLAY Puzzles, crayon's, painting, using safety scissors and tools, stringing beads , block building, dolls and trucks

The most important is for parents to look for games that provide constructive learning, encourage group activity and solve problems and make decisions...

Also ,, give them a special attention... PLAY with your KIDS!!! enjoy them engage to their own world and soon you will be giggling like a child too... ENJOY YOUR KIDS!!!!

Thanks Sis JenL for the pics

I wanted a new Digital Camera

Our family loves to travel..
Traveling is good for us because it helps the kids gain more knowledge and experiences from the places that we've been through. If I like the place I always keep my camera handy with me so I can take a picture of it, I wanted to remember and preserve the memories of it.

When my sister came over here for a holiday , she just brought her new SLR Digital Camera with her.. It takes good photos and quite impressive with the quality. My hubby was able to use it too and I think he was convinced that we need to upgrade our digital camera.. We wanted a best digital camera that is durable for our family use. So we are looking for the best option for our needs ,we have to consider our lifestyle and there are things to consider ; If we are going for a  Big SLR  digital cam or just a compact one.
We are looking for a best compact digital camera that will be easy for us; we are also looking for best travel digital camera that we can just put in our bag and just carry on while we travel. Or go for a best wide angle digital camera that takes good photos and portrait. Since I love taking pictures of my kids.. Too many choices... I still have to look around and get peoples opinion about it....

How to save on Ink

With the high cost looming around.. soaring petrol prices,, everything is going up, the best thing we do is to be wise with our choices in products and services,, we have to make the most of it.. I've got a home office to run and a daughter who is in High school and we have a great demand in using our computer, fax machine and printer. That is why I opted for a less expensive inkjet cartridge. I also use my fax machine most of the time and using a reliable  fax cartridge is a must.
So using a compatible toner is my way of saving heaps; the quality is not a problem and I can easily access it here in our place..
